Diablo 4 Release Date, Rumors, News, Price, System Requirements and Updates

Diablo 4 Release Date: Blizzard first released Diablo 3 back in 2012, and since then we have heard about the game every now and then. After being rolled out initially for PC platforms, the game was eventually made playable for consoles during the following year. But despite Blizzard’s fixed focus on the success of Diablo 3, fans are already prepared to embrace the next game in the series. That brings us to Diablo 4, a game that everyone wants to hear about.

Diablo 4 Release Date:

Is Diablo 4 in the works?

Is Diablo 4 Happening

Despite the developers continually denying the existence of Diablo 4, rumors about the next Diablo title have been doing the rounds for a long time. These were further fuelled after those who were given the special Blizzcon 2016 goodie bag containing a board game spotted an erroneous die with ” 1/1/4″ printed on it. Normally the die should have read  “1/1/1” or “2/2/2” or “3/3/3” on the sides, but the error was thought to represent the Blizzcon 2016 dates, which commenced on November 4. Those who were eager to make a connection concluded that the “4” also stood for the “4” in Diablo 4. Speculations reached their height when some fans spotted job positions for a Diablo game having been listed online, and everyone was hopeful that the developer’s November event would have some big news about Diablo 4. But Blizzcon 2016 came and went without even a hint about the next game in the Diablo series. However, fans are still hopeful that the game is in the works, and Blizzard’s denial of the prospects of the next game are deliberate attempts at misleading fans. That certainly makes sense from a business perspective.

If that is indeed the case, it is definitely working. The hype about Diablo 4 is growing by the day despite the fact that all we have on our hands are a bunch of speculations and mistaken assumptions.

Diablo 4: Where does it stand right now?

Update: In an exclusive chat with one source, Blizzard officials stated that while they are still very much focused on the post-release content for Diablo 3 (which are expected to run well into 2017), they are well aware of the anticipation surrounding Diablo 4. But even as they turned down rumors about the latter’s existence, they did acknowledge the fact that the series has the potential to go further. Though fans should not expect an announcement anytime soon, there might just be a Diablo 4 in the future. We don’t know what to make of it, but fans can definitely breathe easy knowing that the creators see Diablo 4 as a possibility. But as long as Blizzard doesn’t make things official, let’s not read too much into these speculations.

Original Text

The best bet we have for the existence of Diablo 4 is the aforementioned job postings on Blizzard’s website. But while the descriptions provided could certainly mean that the team is working on a new Diablo game, one source thinks that they could just as easily pertain to a new expansion pack for Diablo 3 or even a spinoff due to the vague details provided. It further refers to the fact that those rumored to be working on the next Diablo game responded to fans’ questions by stating that while they would love to recreate the Diablo magic once again in the near future, the rumors were, in fact, baseless. But that does not necessarily mean that there will not be a Diablo 4. For all we know, the upcoming game is already in the works and Blizzard is keeping the fact under tight wraps as they are still doing good business with all the new post-launch material for Diablo 3.

Diablo 4 Release Date

There’s not much to say here, except speculations. If we go by Blizzard’s history of launching the previous Diablo games, the first entry in the series was launched way back in 1996, with Diablo 2 following in 2000. However, the four-year launch gap between the first two games was not followed in Diablo 3.

Diablo 3 was released in 2012, but this initial release was only limited to the Windows PC, with the game being made available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles over the next few years. In fact, Diablo 3 was launched on the PS4 and the Xbox One relatively recently, in 2014, along with an expansion. Blizzard has not only chucked any rules about game launches out the window, but the long hiatus between the second and third installments has meant good business for Diablo 3. The game stands as one of the most pre-ordered titles till date on online portals, and it even broke several sales records upon its launch.

It is obvious then, why Blizzard would want to keep things tightly under wraps. With the active amount of material we are still getting from Diablo 3, Diablo 4 is not likely to make an appearance in 2016, not even in announcement form. But speculations are rife that the developers would have news about Diablo 4 by 2018 at the latest, with many citing that 2018 would mark the fourth year after the previous game was released for a platform.

The veracity of such claims cannot be authenticated, but it does look like a possibility. However, at the same time, we are to keep in mind that Blizzard does not comply with most of the commonly used tropes that other developers use. For instance, the Diablo series has recently completed its twentieth year of existence, and fans thought that the best way to celebrate the event would be the official announcement of a new Diablo title. But whatever new things we have heard about the series so far has been about Diablo 3. So at this point, it is completely uncertain when Diablo 4 will be released.

But one thing that we may expect from Diablo 4 is that the game will be released simultaneously across all consoles, rather than the PC launch happening first followed by the consoles.

Diablo 4 Gameplay, Features, Updates

Not much is known about Diablo 4 gameplay, but the few rumors doing the rounds hint that the new game will be built on a new engine that will take Diablo 3’s destructible world a few notches higher and provide richer graphics. In that case, we can expect this upcoming game to be an online play exclusive.

The new engine would also facilitate Player Vs Player modes where two or more players can fight it out to determine the ultimate winner. The feature would be available as part of the game from its launch itself.

Other than that, the previous game’s character divisions are likely to be included in Diablo 4, and each will come with their own specific skill set. You can also expect new character types to join in addition to all the existing types.

Sadly, that’s all that is known about Diablo 4 features at the moment. Watch out for more updates.

Diablo 4 Trailer

Considering that there is no official information about Diablo 4, a trailer is a difficult thing to wish for at this stage. But fret not, the moment we come to know about it, we will put it up along with an in-depth discussion.

Diablo 4 System Requirements

Considering that we don’t even have an announcement for Diablo 4 yet, there is no way to know what kind of PC specifications the new title will require. But if we’re looking at, say a 2019 release date, then perhaps the game could run smoothly on the specs mentioned below.

 Minimum RequirementsRecommended Requirements

Diablo 4 Price

Once again, there is no concrete information about Diablo 4 price. But if Blizzard chooses to launch the game across multiple consoles at the same time instead of testing the waters with an initial PC release, then perhaps we can expect this forthcoming action game to be priced significantly higher than Diablo 3.

Considering that, Diablo 4 may be priced somewhere around the $50-60 mark.
