Dishonored 2 is the highly anticipated upcoming title from Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks. The action-adventure stealth role-playing game will be the sequel to the acclaimed 2012 title, Dishonored. The upcoming title was announced in 2015 at the E3 event along with several other titles from Bethesda including Fallout Shelter, Elder Scrolls Legends and Battlecry. However, Dishonored 2 was the announcement that everyone was waiting for.
The trailer accompanying the E3 2015 announcement was a cinematic one, and in it fans got a good look at Empress Emily Kaldwin. In the new game, Emily is deposed by “an otherworldly usurper” and she is determined to take back the throne. She follows in the steps of her father (Corvo Attano who was the protagonist of Dishonored), by becoming an assassin. Bearing the Outsider’s mark – a mysterious mark granted by a mythic being that bestows her with supernatural abilities – and an array of weapons and gadgets, she intends to reclaim her title and restore what has been lost.
Dishonored 2 Gameplay
Unlike Dishonored, players can choose to play as either of the two characters, Emily Kaldwin and Corvo Attano. Corvo Attano is a guard-turned-assassin from the original game, and Emily Kaldwin is the daughter of the late Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, who was assassinated at the beginning of the first Dishonored game. Players must play as Emily in the prologue of Dishonored 2, and afterwards, they can choose their avatar.
However, the player must decide who they want to play as pretty early in the game, and that is the choice that they will have to stick with the rest of the game. Players will not be given the option of switching between the two main roles in between missions, and both characters will come with very different styles of combat. Players also have the choice whether or not to use stealth. As with the first game, there will be supernatural powers thrown in the mix. Emily has Far Reach, Shadow Walk and Mesmerize as her powers, which nobody has heard of. Her powers are also very different from the ones Corvo used, so fans familiar with the prequel will also be in for a surprise.
