Gears of War 4, the upcoming third-person shooter game from The Coalition and Microsoft, is coming out for fans in October. To make the wait a little bit more bearable, Microsoft has announced a big treat for those who can’t wait. According to the announcement, Microsoft will host a worldwide live stream event for Gears of War 4, which it calls “the biggest Gears event of the year,” where the publisher will showcase new exclusive gameplay material, cool giveaways, and other things.
The official announcement video states that the event, titled Gears of War 4 Live, will be held on October 5, less than a week ahead of the game’s official launch, and will kick off at 3:00 PM (Pacific Time). The description reads: “This worldwide live stream will feature exclusive gameplay, giveways, special apperances and much more.”
For the unacquainted, Gears of War 4, the fourth main instalment in the Gears of War series, follows a story of survival after necessary resources have been depleted after the Imulsion Countermeasure weapon was deployed. In the aftermath, the planet Sera has become uninhabitable for the most part, forcing the few remaining human beings to wall themselves in for protection against outside forces.
In terms of gameplay, Gears of War 4 will feature some close quarter combat in addition to all the shooting and deploying explosives, for which players will be given special Combat Knives. Among some of the other new weapons that the game will include are the Dropshot, which fires explosive drills, and the Buzzkill that fires ricocheting sawblades.
Apart from the gameplay, Gears of War 4 will also pay a great deal of attention to all the peripheral factors that make an awesome game. For these purposes, Gears of War 4 will feature music composed by none other than Ramin Djawadi, the Grammy-nominated music composer for Marvel’s 2008 hit Iron Man. Djawadi is also responsible for writing the music for the award-winning television series, Game Of Thrones.
Gears of War 4 will release worldwide on October 11 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. It will also come as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, which will enable players who buy it for either Xbox or PC, use it on both platforms. For buyers who buy the Ultimate Edition of the game for $100, they can start playing from October 7. Ahead of its release, Microsoft will also make the title available for pre-loading so that players can start to play as soon as it launches.
