Warhorse Studios‘ upcoming action RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has been the focus of attention since gamers got a whiff of how it wanted to do things differently. Whereas most titles set in the medieval era rely heavily on fantastic elements, Warhorse‘s upcoming new game makes a far more ambitious claim of being rooted in realistic settings. So gamers can expect historically accurate settings, armour and clothing, as well as combat techniques and architecture inspired by real life.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Gameplay
The game begins in the year 1403 in the Kingdom of Bohemia, which comprises Lands of the Bohemian Crown along with the modern Czech Republic. The game is a role-playing game, with the main character being Henry, the son of a blacksmith who loses his land as well as all members of his family to a rampage by an invading army during the times of political turmoil (based on actual historical events).
Warhorse has revealed several gameplay footages till date, which showcase the high standards the developers have set for themselves. The gameplay will heavily depend on the players’ choices, which will greatly determine the reputation that his character gains in the game, which then will have considerable consequences in his interaction with other characters.
Trailers and gameplay videos have also focused on the game’s emphasis on realistic combat design. The makers have said that combat in the game is based on a system using inverse kinematics, which helps to determine reactions of fighters on both sides by the speed and weight of their blows.A trailer that was released during this year’s Gamescom also showed off the game’s stealth mode, which allows the main playable character to sneak up behind enemies and kill them. However, the trailer did not show any prompts to benefit the player about whether he can be spotted by enemies.

Other realistic elements in the game include the need for the character to eat and rest alongside training extensively in order to survive. Additionally, food cannot be hoarded, as in real life, doing so will result in the rotting of all the foodstuff over long periods.
The game will be a single-player experience with multiple branching storylines and quests in a highly interactive world. Quests are meant to be open-ended, with multiple possible results based on the decision of the player.
