Mass Effect: Andromeda, BioWare and EA‘s upcoming third-person shooter video game title, has been almost a no-show in public events, ever since it graced fans with an additional trailer during this year’s EA Play event at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Fans who were eagerly awaiting news of its release at the Gamescom 2016 were in for further disappointment as it has been reported that the upcoming Mass Effect title will see a considerable delay in its release.
The makers have confirmed that the game that was earlier aimed at being given a late 2016 release will not be seeing the light of the day before 2017. But even so, gamers are puzzled about why the developers have not thought about releasing a single gameplay footage yet. This had led to speculations that perhaps the title was lagging behind its schedule. This might have been a possibility considering that EA, the publisher of the upcoming Mass Effect title, has a lot of big releases lined up in the near future, including the much awaited Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2.
However, Patrick Soderlund of EA has confirmed that the game is definitely on track: “You’ll get your first look at gameplay in the not too distant future,” he said in an interview with Game Informer.
“I get people want to see gameplay and I just came back from a short vacation and I played through the first three hours of the game. It’s very playable, and there is no alarm about, ‘Why aren’t they showing it?’ It’s strictly that the game will get the right type of exposure at the right time and that we can the right voice for it. Right now we’re focused on our big titles for [October through December],” said the Executive Vice President for EA.
Going by Soderlund’s assurances, we should be able to sample another, more detailed look of the game shortly. This has led fans to assume that the big day might be November 7, known as N7 Day after the N7 militant group in the games. Last year too, a teaser trailer of the game was unveiled on November 7.
So while fans have a significant wait ahead of them before they can get their hands on the game, there is much to look forward to. The new Mass Effect game will follow the events long after the timeline of the first three Mass Effect games. Our new protagonist will be Ryder, who will be responsible for finding a new planet suitable for the human race.
Mass Effects: Andromeda is expected to release in Q1 of 2017, for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
