Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 promises to be an exciting new game for those who have a love for first person tactical shooter games. Polish developers CI Games insist that the third instalment in the series will be a vastly different experience for players in terms of gameplay, owing to the expansive open world nature of the title as well as the kind of combat they will be allowed to engage in. However, such deviations and improvements will obviously mean a significant amount of time in the making, and now CI Games has announced that the game will not be released on its previously scheduled date of January 27, 2017. Instead, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is now set to release on April 4, 2017.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will be set in present-day Georgia, a country near Russia, where players must try to stop a Cold War from erupting. Jonathan North, the game’s main playable character, is a retired marine who players must play as. Owing to its open world design, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will not feature a linear narrative, and players may partake in several secondary quests besides playing out the game’s main missions. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will also feature a dynamic weather and day/ night cycles which will have a bearing on how the player has to approach a mission. Every decision a player will make will affect the outcome of his actions differently. Objectives will have to be figured out by gathering intel instead of simply being shown. Combat will not be limited to sniping only, and include a host of other mechanics like close quarter shootings, as well as knife-fights and melee combat. As the game’s designer Tomasz Pruski puts it, “Military snipers don’t just shoot rifles in a range, they’re trained in all areas of expertise because they need to know what to do in any combat situation. We wanted to have that because our main character is a skilled sniper, but also a fully competent warrior in the other areas.”
All these factors contribute towards making the title a highly anticipated one, and so to console fans who have been waiting eagerly, the makers have said that the delay will help them to polish and optimise the game further to provide for a better playing experience. “Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimising the game. This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished,” said CI Games officials in a statement, adding that the upcoming game will mark a new beginning in the series.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 comes out on the Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 4, 2017.
