The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most awaited games for Nintendo fans. The upcoming game is the nineteenth main instalment in the series that has been running since the late 80s while also being the first to be developed in HD resolution. Quite understandably, the hype is big around this one, and the makers are not playing coy with the new game’s content.
Recently, Nintendo uploaded a new Breath of the Wild gameplay footage on their official YouTube account that features Japanese comedian Masaru Hamaguchi in action as he plays the game. In the footage that roughly spans 40 minutes, we can see the game’s protagonist Link as he makes his way through the expansive landscapes towards achieving his mission of taking down Calamity Ganon’s growing power as it threatens to lay waste to everything around it. In the footage, Link meets an old man who (presumably) tells him about the history of the land. He can then be seen using his various skills and resources to chop down trees, fight various monsters, hunting, and collecting different items.
From what we know about the game that has already been delayed more than once, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will feature an open world setting that will be much larger than all the previous games in the series, including the overworld that was seen in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess back in 2006. The game will go easy on instructing its players, who will thus have the freedom to explore the game’s vast world and perform actions according to their own pace and liking. In such an environment, players will have to utilise their skills to safely see Link through his journey. Food items can be collected, trees can be cut down to light fires, and weapons can have multiple uses depending on their type. Link, too, will be equipped with increased mobility and can traverse with ease along most surfaces.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released simultaneously for the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch. While a specific release date has not been set as of now, the makers have scheduled a 2017 launch for the upcoming game.
