Best Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games of 2018
2018 promises to be one of the riches years as far as the Nintendo Switch is concerned. The best part is that the Switch will soon be a year old and Nintendo will want to make the occasion a special one. What are some of the best games that we can expect? Let’s have a look.
This is one of the top money spinners of EA and certainly this year the FIFA 19 game will be something to be excited about. We have already covered the many details of the game. This football simulation game is something that always throws up a new twist year after year and this year, we believe that the glitches of the previous games will finally be erased. EA will be looking forward to the success of this game.
Available platforms: Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
Release Date: September 2018 (expected)
Donkey Kong: Jungle Freeze
This is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Wii U. Now that it is switching to the Switch, we hope that the legend of Donkey Kong will continue. Not only that, there is a Nintendo Switch exclusive character too: Funky Kong, a rather rad character who has a skateboard and who has even better moves than many of the more famous characters.
The Switch exclusive two-player mode is also something that will come in handy here.
Release Date: May 4, 2018
Mario Tennis Aces
This is one of the most eagerly anticipated games on the Nintendo Switch. That’s right: Mario Tennis is finally making its debut on the Switch. With this release, we hope that there will be a lot of more snazzy moves that always accompany a game of such authentic pedigree. Nintendo has said that this is the most dangerous Mario Tennis game ever. This is also the first such game to come, after the GBA title Mario Tennis: Power Tour, with a Story Mode. And Mario looks adorable in his shorts, doesn’t he?
Release Date: Spring 2018
When it comes to basketball simulation games, there is no greater game than the NBA 2K series. This year, we have already given you an idea of what NBA 2K19 will be like. Given that a serious upgrade was done last year, this year will surely hold something special. This game will feature a rocksteady AI-driven interface as well as having much-improved graphics compared to the years gone by. Surely one to look out for, we say.
Release Date: September 2018 (tentative)
Platforms: Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
Yet again, another one in the long-running Wolfenstein series will soon be on the Switch. This is Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. This is also one of Bethesda’s most hotly anticipated releases this year, besides other fan-favorites like Doom and Skyrim. While it is surely not coming in the first half of the year, we do feel that for Ninty’s long-term plan, this game does have a definite value. We mean, this is heavy AAA play. One of the game’s greatest characters, BJ Blazkowicz, is coming back to this game. He will do battles with the Nazis. Actually, we have been led to believe that a new/colorful Militant American Resistance is back to fight the Nazis as well and establish a Second American Revolution.
Release Date: TBA 2018
This is a cult classic which is making a comeback to the Nintendo Switch this year. In fact, the wishlist itself reads like one drawn up by a ’90s-era JRPGs fan. Clearly, going retro is going to be one of 2018’s core values. The developers of the iconic Skullgirls is the same one at work with their standard features. These include hand-drawn graphics and the exploration-based gameplay which defined Metroid and the 2D. It is also bound to have a superb soundtrack that is being developed by Secret of Mana composer Hiroki Kikuta. So, overall, this does sound like a very good proposal for the console. We have also been encouraged by the free prototype which we saw for the PS4.
Release date: TBC 2018
By the time this year ends, the players will have many more gaming options to choose from. What took the other popular consoles years- Sony’s Playstation was first released in 1994- seems easy now for this specific console: more and more publishers are approaching Nintendo for Switch-specific games. How well they do will be evident in the coming months.
